SunPower, Winrock International, and its partners are promoting the use of reliable solar energy systems in cost-effective rural applications including rural household electrification and support for rural services, particularly education, and support solar energy market development in the Philippines.  The solar energy systems will incorporate high-efficiency solar cells manufactured by SunPower in the Philippines . The solar market development will include support for strengthening the private sector delivery chain to better serve rural markets, and support for innovative rural energy service approaches.  

The broader goal of SunPower under this alliance is to support solar energy development in the Philippines , and the contribution of solar energy to Philippines ’ economic and social development. The goal of Winrock International under this alliance is to build on its ongoing and recent activities in the Philippines in order to further support rural development and contribute to broader peace and development initiatives.
