Members of communities in Zamboanga del Sur know of household solar lighting options at the Mindanao Business Conference
Representatives of more than 20 community-based associations and municipal LGUs from different municipalities in Zamboanga del Sur will have an opportunity to know more about solar lighting options for their homes at the 20th Mindanao Business Conference, which will run from the 7th till 9th of September in Pagadian City.

Various renewable energy companies will showcase new solar photovoltaic technologies that are a fitting solution to the energy needs of Zamboanga Peninsula’s remote and off-grid villages.
The Alliance for Mindanao and Multi-Regional Renewable/Rural Energy Development Program (AMORE), a rural electrification program that has since 2002 been energizing homes and villages in off-grid areas in Mindanao, has put together the meeting between the communities and renewable energy suppliers in an effort to facilitate energization of more rural households in the country.
The networking activity in Pagadian is the third to be held this year by the AMORE program. In March and June, similar expositions were held in Koronadal City and Bongao to introduce RE products to residents of Central Mindanao and Tawi-Tawi, respectively.
Similar business expositions had been held last year in the cities of Zamboanga and Dipolog and in the town of Jolo.
The AMORE Program is a rural electrification program that energizes remote households using renewable energy systems such as solar and hydro via mini-grids. It is a private-public partnership between the United States Agency for International Development, the Philippine Department of Energy, Sunpower Foundation, and Winrock International. To date, more than 14,000 households have been energized either from the AMORE program’s direct electrification or renewable energy supply delivery strengthening activities in Mindanao.
