Business Expo Promotes Partnerships for Solar Lighting to Rural Households in Mindanao

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Residents of the city and nearby island provinces will have a chance to see alternative lighting systems and products as the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Business Exposition organized by the Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy (AMORE) Program opened on July 09 at the scenic Paseo del Mar.

The Solar PV Business Exposition, which will run for two days, aims to introduce various solar lighting technologies not only to residents of the city but also to businessmen and community members from barangays in the provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

At least 10 companies will showcase solar technologies and establish business linkages with various micro-entrepreneurs. This is one of AMORE’s strategies to bridge the gap between Manila-based suppliers and rural-based end-users of renewable energy.

The exposition will also include the participation of Landbank of the Philippines, the Peace and Equity Foundation and the Paglaum Multipurpose Cooperative to share information on available financial assistance and micro-financing initiatives that could be accessed for solar household electrification.

By facilitating business linkages between suppliers, entrepreneurs, micro-finance institutions and end-users in the exposition, the AMORE Program hopes to facilitate access to clean and renewable energy in more rural households in Mindanao.
