Zambo Norte upland households to benefit from safe water projects

More than 300 households living in the far-flung villages of Zamboanga del Norte will soon benefit from safe water projects according to Rotary Club of Dipolog President Edna Capili-Chan.

With the Rotary Club of Dipolog as its partner, the USAID-funded Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy (AMORE) program will be launching on January 29 the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project at the provincial capitol grounds in this city.

Community-based water systems are to be constructed each in Barangay San Antonio in Sergio Osmeña town and Barangay Panampalay in Roxas municipality.

Falling under the USAID-Rotary International Water Alliance program, the WASH project not only promises to bring safe and potable water to the recipient-households but it also aims to educate community members on proper sanitation and hygiene. It also engages the community’s active participation in the community-based water system’s operation and maintenance for long-term sustainability and impact.

To date, AMORE has constructed across Mindanao ten potable water systems benefiting 5,000 households.
