AMORE celebrates old and new partnerships

On July 16, 2007 the Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy (AMORE) through Winrock renewed old and forged new partnerships, even as it was saying goodbye to a long-time development partner. In a Thanksgiving and Agreement Signing ceremony, Mirant Philippines Foundation was thanked and said goodbye to on the one hand, and a ceremonial signing was held with the Department of Energy, the Asian Institute of Management, and the ABS-CBN Foundation’s E-Media program on the other.
Under the Agreement with the Department of Energy, the DoE and Winrock International agree to collaborate and electrify at least 100 unenergized barangays in Mindanao using approaches and concepts developed and espoused by both parties. DoE Sec. Raphael Lotilla and AMORE Chief of Party Tetchi Capellan signed the document while Energy Undersecretary Melinda Ocampo acted as witness.
The Memorandum of Understanding with the Asian Institute of Management Scientific Research Foundation, Inc (AIM-SRF) is for the development of curriculum for and conduct of values formation and leadership training seminars for AMORE’s Barangay Renewable Energy and Community Development Association (BRECDA) officers in 100 barangays targeted for electrification under the Mirant-USAID-Winrock Amended Joint Declaration of Principles. The document was signed by AIM-SRF Exec. Dir. Ernesto Garilao for AIM Pres. Francis Estrada and AMORE chief Tetchi Capellan, while Mirant Philippines Foundation Exec. Dir. Roberto Calingo acted as witness.
The Agreement with ABS-CBN Foundation’s E-Media Program is for AMORE’s School Electrification and Distance Education project, wherein Winrock committed to fund the Educational Television Project component of the AMORE program, and shall disburse, in favor of the ABS-CBN Foundation payment for the acquisition and delivery of ETV materials of the Foundation to be distributed to 36 schools. The document was signed by AMORE Chief Capellan and E-Media Program Director Zen Dimalanta. |
