Forty-eight public schools across Mindanao are now enjoying electricity from the sun. AMORE has just installed solar photovoltaic systems in these remote schools in the provinces of Tawi-Tawi and Maguindanao and in the Zamboanga Peninsula. These 20Wp solar photovoltaic systems are capable of powering 2 compact fluorescent lamps and a CD player. The New-York based non-profit organization Real World Alliance that is implementing the Improving English Language Teaching and Learning in Mindanao (IELTLM) Project has also provided these schools with audio English learning and teaching materials. Teachers have already been trained on how to use these facilities.
