Poor households in remote conflict areas in Mindanao that have been electrified with renewable energy by the Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy (AMORE) Program will now be able to access radio programs on the Radyo ng Bayan network to improve their English literacy, courtesy of the Improving English Language Teaching and Learning in Mindanao (IELTLM) Project of Real World Productions under the U.S. Agency for International Development's Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills (EQuALLS) Program. IELTLM will also supply English instructional audio materials to AMORE-electrified schools in the region and will train the teachers to use them. AMORE is a partnership of USAID, the Department of Energy, Mirant Philippines Foundation, the ARMM, and Winrock International. Photo shows IELTLM Chief of Party Stuart Leigh handing over some of the project's instructional materials to AMORE Chief of Party Ma. Theresa Cruz-Capellan after they signed the partnership agreement. Looking  on are (L and R) USAID's Office of Energy and Environment Chief Daniel Moore and Office of Education Chief Thomas Kral.
